A surreal journey took us back To Rumline: a train ride to Manchester, lunch at Michael Caine's Cafe, a car journey past the beautiful pennines and lake district, a drive by throught the notorious Gorbals estate (motorway bypass closed), Glasgow airport, Taxi-ride to Largs and then onto a music Gig in Farlie. Lidisfarne were meant to be playing so we wore headbands and daisies in our hair. The locals eyed us with confusion and suspision, we got the date wrong and a non ex hippie band was playing. Woodface was a great acoustic duo and we kept the headbands on, the locals got drunker and welcomed us, the landlord drove us back to the Marina. A typical start to our next leg of Rumline around Britain.
Our plan is to sail Rumline my Contessa 32 around the UK avoiding sinking and drowning so that we can explore, collect tales and ultimately find the best drinking holes for sailors. Our journey will begin by leaving the Solent and turning west. There is no itinerary just a knowledge of what is safe and what is possible. We want to keep an element of surprise and serendipity and leave some of the choice to mood and the wind gods.
