May 9 Around Lands End where there be Dragons

The weather reported a gale coming towards Fastnet, so remembering some seafaring wisdom 'waste not a minute' we once again threw off our lines and set our sails whilst we had favourable winds. It is bit dauting to leave the Channel and sail towards the big open water of the Atlantic but off we went excited and a bit apprehensive of new water.  We ticked off Merthen Point, Treen and Vessacks as we began to round the western pennisula of our island. The rollers grew as we neared  Longships and Lands End. A proper Atlantic swell built and Rumline climbed the surf and rode the rollers with grace and ease. Dave our friendly Newlyn Harbourmaster also a lifeboatman was out on lifeboat duty today. He and the crew drew their lifeboat near Rumline off Treen and waved goodbye to us before they turned to continue their exercises.
Big seas on the quarter

North finally
Under full reefs and against a foul tide we flew around Lands End at 6 knots in a freshening breeze. It was exciting to see the compass at 0 North. It was an exhilerating sail. The rough seas didn't deter Rumline  nor her crew it was exciting to once again feel the force of the Atlantic. Twelve hours later we pulled into Padstow's walled harbour. What a great day!
